Look what I found!

After looking at all of these pictures I’m posting, I got VERY sad. Is there any way to keep my children from growing? They are so precious, and while I am trying to live in the moment and enjoy each step of this parenting journey, I find myself longing for the days I could just hold them in my arms for hours on end. Does anyone else feel that way?

What brought you here?

I would just like to make this quick post to mention what search term has brought people to this blog. With more than 3 times the hits of any google search, the most common phrase that helped people find us?

babies hair cut

I am not proud of this. Yes, my children have cut their own hair. More than once. And I blog about it! I don’t have anything else to write about, and you know you love reading about their misadventures, anyway.

Tomorrow? Be on the lookout for photos I found on our oldest computer, most of which have never been viewed by anyone. It will be mostly Kennison, with a COUPLE of Colton – but some cute ones nonetheless. Stay tuned!

Cerise is 8 months!

I know I have been bad about posting, but just because I haven’t been sharing pictures of how our baby girl is growing doesn’t mean I haven’t been taking them! Enjoy!

3. years. today.

Three years ago today, we were blessed by the birth of our son. Rather than express with words how he has blessed our lives these past 3 years, I think I’ll share some pictures instead. You’ll enjoy that more than my ramblings, I’m sure. Here’s a little peek into our lives with our Coco Bean…

Happy Birthday, Cotton!

Today we celebrated our son’s 3rd birthday with family. I asked Colton what he wanted me to make for the day. He said, “Uh, macaroni.” Then, as if I didn’t know what he meant, “macaroni and cheese”. Ok, that was easy enough. I asked him what he wanted with his macaroni. “Macaroni and CHEESE.” “Yes, I know, macaroni and cheese. What do you want with your macaroni and cheese?”

“Uh, I dunno.”

“Would you like daddy to make some pork?”

“Uh, yeah.”

“Would you like to have coleslaw?”

“Uh, yeah.”

OK. I decided the menu was up to me. We had quite the spread – Kenny smoked some delicious pork and made coleslaw, while I made macaroni (and cheese, as if that wasn’t clear), cheddar biscuits, cheesy ranch potatoes, and baked beans. Kenny’s parents and my parents joined us, along with our cousins Tori and Mike and their boys. The kids had a great time, and Colton loved opening his gifts… or assigning other people to open them. I’m not sure he really understood the whole birthday concept, because anytime someone said, “Happy birthday, Colton!” he would reply, “Happy birthday to you, too!” Oh well. I guess he IS sharing. That’s something.

For dessert, we had this cake. I LOVE Dairy Queen cakes, and since the cake conversation with Colton went like this…

Me: “Do you want a regular cake, or a cookie cake, or an ice cream cake?”

Kennison (with a whisper): “You want an icicle pop cake.”

Colton: “An icicle pop cake.”

Me: “I don’t even know what that is.”

… I decided to do what was easiest and order my preference – a large DQ cake with an extra cookie/fudge layer (because that’s the BEST part). I ordered the cake over the phone and had to spell out Colton’s name for her. I told her anything Toy Story would be fine, and that my husband would pick it up the next day afer 3:00. No problem.

Kenny came home with the cake the next day, and this is what I saw:

Kenny claims he couldn’t tell that his son’s name was misspelled because the container was all foggy. That’s the story, anyway. But, since Colton doesn’t know how to spell, he was fine with it – and we all got a good laugh about it. Here are some more photos from the day.

Sweet Charlie boy... you melt my heart, child!

Birthday boy - being silly!

Playing with his new truck!

Kennison got a new puzzle from Nana, and Kennison and Grandma took some time out to put it together. Kennison LOVES puzzles!

Clearly, I did not do a good job of documenting the day in photos, but we loved having our family over to celebrate the birth of our precious son!

Oh these children… how I love them… and how they love each other! Every day is an adventure, and I thank God for bringing these little people into my life!

sometimes fate intervenes…

Kenny had been wanting to get Colton’s hair cut for quite some time. I was hesitant, because I liked Colton looking like a baby boy rather than a big boy.

Well, Kenny got his wish, but not the way any of us would have hoped. One morning I asked the kids to play quietly in their room – and play quietly they did. So quietly, in fact, that I had no idea they were in there cutting each other’s hair. Lovely. This little act necessitated a hair cut – by a professional. There were spots on Colton’s head that were so short, even when the stylist used a 1.5 guard there were still hairs that were shorter than what she was buzzing. And Colton only cut hair on Kennison’s left side, so she had to be evened out. I documented the whole thing – you know, for the blog.

sprayground

Today we met a friend of mine from high school at a local sprayground. The kids had fun running around trying to keep cool, and I had fun visiting with one of my long-time friends!
